Alan Levitt, president of Levcom Inc., has been providing insightful commentary on the present state and future of the dairy foods business for the last 24 years. Here's how I describe my niche: there certainly are people who know more about the dairy business, and there are people who write better ... but there are very few people who understand the business who can interpret what's going on and write about it the way I can.

 

Over the years, my analysis of dairy pricing trends, industry developments and consumer dynamics have appeared regularly in publications like the CME’s Daily Dairy Report, Dairy & Food Market Analyst, Cheese Market News, Dairy Foods, Dairy Field, Dairy Industry Newsletter, Dairy Today, Agri-View, Hoard’s Dairyman, and Dairyline. I provide a daily newsletter on the dairy markets to the CME Group, and my market situation and outlook columns appear monthly in Dairy Today, weekly in Agri-View and fortnightly in Dairy Industry Newsletter.

I've been in the unique position of tracking international market developments as well; for the last 14 years, I've supported the domestic communications efforts of the U.S. Dairy Export Council, writing internal and external newsletters, monthly editorials, and a variety of other consulting and writing projects, including presentations, webcasts, annual reports, magazine articles, media releases, brochures and media and trade relations plans.

 

I also track and write about dairy ingredient trends for Dairy Management Inc.

 

Levitt Communications (the original, not-legalese name of Levcom Inc.) debuted in January 2000 on a platform of providing marketing communications and market analysis for the dairy industry. Previously, I was vice president of J/D/G Consulting Inc., where I tracked, analyzed and wrote about a variety of industry issues. I was co-founder of the Dairy & Food Market Analyst and was responsible for many of the day-to-day operations of the company.

 

Prior to joining J/D/G Consulting, I was editor of Cheese Market News and managing editor of Dairy Foods magazine. In 1983, I received a degree in English from the University of Iowa.
